Tian let Wangji take over, knowing well how odd he could be about anyone touching anything of his. "It's about the cultivation world. Different sects or clans, that stuff. You have to join a sect begin with, Tao and I joined the Nie sect, Chenglei the Jin sect."
Which Tao had taken as a personal slight, but he was sure they had gotten over that by now. Usually Chenglei knew how to handle Tao pretty well. "The sects have different guiding principles and specialties, so you have access to different abilities accordingly."
"I see." Lan Wangji got the game up on his screen and then hit the download button - whatever it took to appear his brother and his former friend. He just wanted to stop Lan Xichen from worrying, he wasn't lonely or anything, he just wanted to be alone. Maybe gaming was the socially acceptable way to be anti social. It may be a tool he'd need.
He booted up the game and entered his usual username, scrolling through the rules diligently as he always did and then studying each clan curiously. Tian was right, he did like the music. "How are you, Tian?" Well, he hadn't asked yet so he might as well ask as he scanned the information.
"I'm good, I'm good. I keep busy. My brother's in the mainland right now for business so I have to accompany my parents to more events than usual." Which was fairly boring, but he made it through all right. "I usually try to find a date so I at least have something to do while I'm there."
And while some girls were pretty boring, quite a few of them were interesting one way or the other. "And this game has been a fun way to pass time too. It's actually more layered than I thought and apparently player actions can impact the overall plot."
"I hope it won't be too boring at the next event. All the best, hope you get a date." Lan Wangji mumbled idly as he hit on the lan clan and leaned back, watching the loading screen with a sigh. The man in charge reminded him of his uncle. A morbid part of him did wonder if he could hit and kill the leader of the clan but he knew he wouldn't try. He didn't dare. Actions had consequences, even in the game.
"I suppose we will game together then." He looked at Tian and wondered what he was supposed to say. "You don't have to stay. I'll tell my brother you came"
"Of course." Tian frowned, then got his phone out to get a snap of Wangji's player ID, so he'd actually be able to friend him in game. "Look, Wangji, I know you don't care about things like that, but I do consider us friends. So if you ever do want company, please let me know."
He wondered what the odds of that ever happening were. "And if you ever want a date, I have a lot of numbers to share with you."
"If I want a date, I can get one." Wangji didn't mean to sound arrogant, he was just very confident in what he knew about himself. He could always find a horny boy to play with, the trouble was that he wasn't allowed to do it. Not really. He supposed he could just flirt with single, sweet boys on here and get some of that energy out. "But thanks. I'll talk to you later."
Probably. Apparently they were friends so he supposed he'd owe him a pleasant message every now and again to discuss mundane life details. "I appreciate the visit."
